Test procedure & measurement technology

How we create security – structured, comprehensible and technically modern

1. Visual inspection

Before we get down to business, each gravestone is carefully

examined.

We pay attention to:

  • cracks

  • chipping

  • other visible damage

2. Stability test

Depending on the type and size of the gravestone, we check with:

  • Force gauge KMG 5

  • or for smaller gravestones by hand

3. Digital documentation

All data is sent directly to our tablet—linked to the measuring device. For defective stones, we record:

  • Name of the deceased

  • Measuring height and measured value

  • Type of test / target value

  • Test direction, damage pattern, comments

  • Photos

4. Evaluation & Report

Within a maximum of 3 working days you will receive:

  • Test report (PDF)

  • Statistics and error list

  • Diagrams with photos

Our measuring technology – precise & safe

Our KMG 5 force gauges are technically advanced and specially developed for legally compliant gravestone inspection.

  • Even, controlled pressure build-up – no sudden loads

  • Live diagram of force development on the screen

  • Measured value display when aborted including red marking of the curve

  • Input mask for all relevant gravestone data

  • Annual calibration by Wägetechnik Kohn GmbH

Technical basis

A gravestone > 0.70 m must withstand at least 750 Newton (breaking load) – according to:

  • VSG 4.7 (Horticultural Accident Insurance Association)

  • TA tomb

  • Guidelines of the Federal Association of Stonemasons and Woodcarvers

Note: The cemetery regulations govern which regulations apply. Mixing is not permitted.

ℹ️ Note on pillow stones

Lying gravestones or so-called pillow stones are not inspected because there is no danger of them toppling over.
